With a silver spoon in his mouth, and the right backing, Solomon made religion his first priority. It was his father’s God that dropped the kingdom into his lap. Therefore, Solomon felt obligated to spare no cost in making Yahweh’s house into one of the seven wonders in the world, at the time. The "Temple" was more that equal to the Babylonian Tower and the Pyramids of Egypt.

Restoring God’s Image and Likeness in Man
The Church was it the "Kingdom of God" on earth --- or was it a replacement designed by men that sought an answer to why Jesus had come; and why Jesus had not restored the kingdom of David? It was right after the feeding of the five thousand that the people did intend to make Jesus their king. “Perceiving then that they were about to come and take him by force to make him king, Jesus withdrew again to the hills by himself” (John 6:15). Jesus rode into Jerusalem on the foal of an ass and they hailed Him as the "son of David" (Matthew 21:9). John Zebedee preserved this entry with the explanation that the disciples did not understand Jesus’ actions.
Restoring God’s Image and Likeness in Man
The Bible states that God made a good world! God made man and woman in “His image" and in "His likeness” (Genesis 1:27, 31). Why then, would God turn and punish or even destroy His own creation? The truth is that God does not impose hardships on the world and in particular, on man. It is Satan the devil, God's enemy, who does inflict man with diseases and suffering. Satan instigates hostilities among human beings. Satan causes the upheavals in nature (Revelation 12:7-12). Satan, too, uses man to do his devastations by injecting his evil intentions into the human minds (Genesis 3:4-5). Satan deliberately blinds his subjects from seeing their erring ways and their need for correction. It is Satan's primary objective is to derail the "Redemptive Mission" of Jesus the Lamb of God. The Apostle Paul warned the Corinthians, as well as every other human being, “In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the likeness of God” (II Corinthians 4:4).
Restoring God’s Image and Likeness in Man
At that time shall arise Michael, the great prince who has charge over your people. And there shall be a time of trouble, such as never has been since there was a nation till that time; but at that time your people shall be delivered, every one whose name shall be found written in the book. And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. And those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the firmament; and those who turn many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever. But you, Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, until the time of the end. Many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase (Daniel 12:1-4).

God is Spirit! And the Holy Spirit, does not give man more than he can bear. I have been told, many times, that God’s Law and even “Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount” are outside the human ability to keep. I have been deceived! And so are you! God, the true Spirit, does not give us more to do or to carry than we are able. In fact, when a mishappening disabled me, God opened within me a source of energy far superior to the one that was taken from me (I Corinthians 10:11-13). Moses had a similar problem with his people, who had formed a “grasshopper attitude” about themselves. Yahweh, the Lord, gave the Jews this answer: God was present in His Word the Law and the Law sustained and secured their life in the new land.
Restoring God’s Image and Likeness in Man
Jesus, the founder of the "Absently Heavenly Kingdom," did not isolate Himself from the world. Jesus enjoyed being at weddings. Jesus sat down to have dinners with sinners and the publicans. Jesus even let the castaway people touch Him. It was important to Jesus to make these people who cared enough to invite Him, to feel and do better themselves. The Gospel of John tells the reader that Jesus chose twelve men to be with Him on His Mission on earth. And one of the first things Jesus did with them was to go to a wedding and not to some seclusion where He could instruct his disciples in His Mission. What better place could there have been for a “Missionary” from heaven than at an earthly wedding? Here is the story and how Jesus behaved:
The Covenant is God’s Will for Man
The Hebrew historians had no doubt that everything David did was by divine determination. The installation of Solomon, as king, was Yahweh’s design. Solomon’s initial time as king appears to have pleased Yahweh and the people. However, the cost of Solomon's programs and his appetite for pleasure did not please God or man.
The Covenant is God’s Will for Man
David was a dual personality. Foremost, he was a military hero. But morally and spiritually, David was a literary genius, in his time. David shared some of the deepest human expressions and deepest human needs. He was interested in justice; nevertheless, David, himself, failed to administer it in his own life. Also, David always wanted the Lord or someone else clean up after him. Yet, he never wanted his enemies go unpunished. David could make a person feel that God was at his side fighting his battle:

Is it comprehensible that God partnered with people who were not exactly model citizens? Most of the Old Testament saints may have lacked what it takes to lead in our world. The two most prominent leaders, were Moses and David. When the Lord called them to deliver and save Israel, they both tended sheep and goats. Then, according to the Apostle to the Gentiles, God chose to sent him to people who were of the lowest social order in the world.

The God of the Hebrews (Yahweh) wanted to wean Israel from the man-made gods that demanded human sacrifices, brutal, and cruel tortures to their bodies. Apparently, these Hebrew people did need something to keep them occupied, on a day when they could not work to earn more than they needed. Then, there also was the question, “How should they remember God and express their appreciation to God?” The answer was: have daily burnt offerings, three feasts and a “Big Day of Atonement,” to be repeated, annually. Why have such an elaborate system for people with a simple faith? The answer was and still is: man is exposed daily to sin and does need constantly washing. Jesus gave this answer to Peter, who would not let Jesus wash his feet. And it was much more than a simple act of humility. In order for Peter to keep his feet clean and holy, in the sinful world, which his feet daily touched, his feet needed daily washing. Now, let us read the incident between Jesus and Peter, then the “Day of Atonement” shall become more real to us. It ended with the command to stay clean!
