It is a fact. The First Amendment of the Constitution states, "Congress shall make no law on establishment of religion, or prohibit the free exercise thereof...."

I had an interesting conversation with our oldest grandson. I asked several questions and made some comments, his answer was the same, "sure." Just how sure was he? He was not and neither was I. When I asked him what the word "sure" meant, he said, "Write a Blog."

The claim that Marx and Engel were the fathers of socialism or communism is debatable. From the inception of human government, history and even the Bible is filled with occurrences where people at the bottom moved to the top by the process of elimination. In my lifetime, I have witnessed this procedure in Germany, Poland and Russia where I once lived. Marx was against a capitalism that manipulated the common people. He believed that the masses could govern themselves and share in their labors and profits. His attack was directed against the wealthy nobles and rich industrialists. He actually tried to avoid a repetition of the bloody revolution in France. Unfortunately, Marx or Engel did not believe the Bible that all men are not just sinful but very greedy.

A little girl was learning to skate with much taller youngsters and a trainer was watching. That evening the trainer knocked on the little girl's door and asked her mother permission to let him teach her to become a champion. Her mother did not think that she was doing well enough on the ice because the other children were skating much better. The trainer agreed but gave his reason for choosing her, "She is fearless, that I cannot teach her." Her name is Oksana Baiul, Olympic ice-skating world champion 1993.

Jesus quoted Isaiah 61: 1 in Luke 4: 18, "I ...have come to set the captives free." Who were these captives? Can they be compared to the criminals in our jails? The answer is No!

The question by a Spanish writer, "Did Europe die in Auschwitz?" Europe died when it rejected the Laws of the God of the Bible and began to follow Karl Marx. We are experiencing a similar trend in the Americas.

This past year, many of us have gambled and taken losses. Fortunately, these material losses can be replaced or we can get on without them. But if we take risks with our lives, then those losses cannot be replaced. We all gamble, not with money, but with our souls. Jesus did believe that God has placed the highest price on the soul (Mt.16: 26). He himself was the evidence that God loved the world (mankind) and whoever believes in Him would receive eternal life and not be condemned (Jn.3: 16-18). This is where far too many of us stop and presume that we are secure for an eternity with God. The demons believe, but are they saved (Ja.2: 19)?
